The Museum of Tolerance New York trains volunteer docents to facilitate tours through the center. Our volunteer docents are responsible for facilitating dynamic discussions based on our interactive exhibits on a variety of social justice topics including racism and prejudice in America, international human rights, the history of the Holocaust, and more.
Become a Docent:
As a docent, you become a part of a “Tolerance Team.” You will have the opportunity to promote knowledge and understanding to make a real difference in the lives of New Yorkers. Most of the tours will be for school groups, as well as tours for the general public, religious, and corporate groups. The facilitated tours are 2-3 hours long and most tours are scheduled Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
There will also be some Sunday and evening tour opportunities.
Qualifications and Training:
We ask docents be available to lead at least one tour per month and welcome them to sign up for more.
