Law Firm Summer Associates

Professional Development: Law Firm Summer Associates

The MOTNY invites law firms to hold a different kind of summer associates program: an evening in our a state of the art, multi-media educational center located in the former Daily News building, in the heart of midtown Manhattan.

The Museum of Tolerance New York has successfully worked with a number of NY-based law firms to have their summer associate class visit the center for an evening program.  A program at the MOTNY will highlight your firm’s commitment to diversity, inclusivity and tolerance while providing a special venue for a social gathering of your firm’s partners and their summer interns.

Offering award-winning programs to lawyers, corporate employees, civic leaders, educators, and criminal justice professionals, the MOTNY utilizes cutting-edge technology and well-researched exhibits to explore issues of diversity, tolerance, and responsibility.  Powerful images, interactive video scenarios, and touch-screen computer consoles challenge visitors to confront:

  • the power of words and images in everyday life.
  • historical and contemporary instances of hate, ranging from hastily uttered epithets to acts of genocidal violence.
  • personal testimony from victims and perpetrators of hate.
  • approaches to fostering diversity, tolerance, and responsibility in our workplaces and communities.

“… it was an enlightening experience for our 2007 Summer Program participants.  We sent the entire class -- more than 100 students -- because we understand how valuable diversity is to the legal profession and the essential role it plays in the success of our firm.  The Museum of Tolerance New York experience was an innovative and engaging way to meaningfully discuss diversity, tolerance and social justice."
