Hours

The Museum of Tolerance - New York (MOTNY) is open Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sunday by advance appointment for groups.

The MOTNY is closed on Fridays and Saturdays. 

The MOTNY welcomes group tours, school field trips and special events/programs.

Please call the MOTNY at 212-697-1180 extension 101 to schedule a group tour, school field trip or special event.

Directions

The MOTNY is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan on East 42nd Street. While the MOTNY does not provide parking there is a parking garage at 214 E. 42nd Street at Champion Parking. Champion Parking is accessible via 41st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. The phone number: 212-490-1205.

The MOTNY is easily accessible by subway and bus lines.

Subway Service: 4, 5, 6, 7, S trains to Grand Central Station/East 42 Street:

  • Exit Grand Central Station at 42nd Street
  • Walk East on 42nd Street for approximately 3 Blocks.
  • The New York Tolerance Center is on the right between 3rd and 2nd Avenues at 226 East 42nd Street.

Bus Service: M15, M27, M42, M50, M104 service lines to 226 East 42nd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.

 

Important Tips

The following information is designed to assist you in planning your visit:

Group Tours information: The MOTNY invites groups of 20 or more to participate in 2-hour long tours that utilize the Museum's multimedia exhibits. Schools are also encouraged to arrange field trips. These group tours are on advance registration basis only. Please visit Group Tours or School Field Trips for more information. The MOTNY is open Sunday – Thursday, on a reservation bases only, for Group Tours, School Field Trips and Special Events/Programs.

Location: The MOTNY is located at 226 East 42nd Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues. We are conveniently located by Grand Central Station.

Parking: The MOTNY does not provide parking. Please do not park on side streets or in front of building. You will be ticketed and/or towed! Please see Directions section above for more information.

Security Procedures: All visitors should be advised that bags are subject to inspection. No food, candy, gum or drinks are allowed in the exhibit areas of the Museum.

Photo ID is required for admission.

Photography: NO CAMERAS ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE MOTNY. Photography, audio taping, and videotaping are not permitted.

Accessibility: The MOTNY is handicapped accessible.

Nearby Restaurants: The MOTNY does not have a cafeteria. However, there are many kosher and non-kosher restaurants in the immediate neighborhood.

Age Appropriateness: Some of the exhibits contain graphic imagery and language. Group Tours and School Field trips are appropriate for students 7th grade and above.
